测定疲劳寿命需要使用专用的钢丝绳疲劳试验机，按照国家标准GB/T12347—2008钢丝绳弯曲疲劳试验方法，或YB/T4288-2012电梯用钢丝绳弯曲疲劳试验方。可以比较不同厂家的电梯钢丝绳质量，也可以比较不同生产工艺的电梯钢丝绳综合质量。

将相同直径、结构、性能的锰系磷化涂层电梯钢丝绳与光面电梯钢丝绳先后在一台疲劳试验机上面测试至出现di一根断股，记录疲劳寿命，然后对比试验数据。一般而言，疲劳寿命越长则使用寿命越长，它们是正比例关系。疲劳寿命越长，证明电梯钢丝绳综合质量越高。
